2010- 2020: UP with ART, annual donation of artwork for Unity Project's art fund-raiser in partnership with Museum London, London, Ontario and public event held at Museum London in 2019;  2020 on-line due to COVID-19 pandemic

1998: Established The Centre for Baalqisian Studies, London, Ontario, a non-profit, non-hierarchical initiative which hosted creative work and dialogue & co-sponsored a range of inter-disciplinary projects

​​1998:  First International Grassroots Gathering on Biodevastation & Biodiversity in St. Louis, Missouri, U.S.A., co-sponsor, a Centre for Baalqisian Studies project

1998: 4th Celebrating Survival, cultural program addressing sexual violence, racism and other forms of oppression including writing workshop with Lillian Allen for the Sexual Assult Centre, London, Ontario

1992: Travelling Theory with Jessie Amery, London Arab community heritage exhibitions throughout London, including locations at Western University and Fanshawe College





Jamelie Hassan is a visual artist and activist based in London, Ontario. Since the 1970's, she has exhibited widely in Canada and internationally. She is also active as a lecturer, writer and independent curator and has travelled and worked globally.

​In 
2001 she received a Governor General's Award in Visual and Media Arts in recognition of her artistic achievement. Her activism, curatorial work and contributions to the artist-run centre movement in Canada were also mentioned by the jury in their statement.

​London, Ontario is on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, Lenape, Attawandaron and Huron-Wendat peoples, at the forks of Deshkan Ziibi (Antler River), an area subject to the Dish with One Spoon Wampum and other treaties.
