"Sister Speak to Me: A Tribute to Zahra Kazemi"
International Human Rights Day, December 10, 2020
|
In Sister Speak to Me: A Tribute to Zahra Kazemi (2003), Jamelie Hassan and Tyson Haller document the first Toronto vigil held for this photojournalist by creating a film that is an answerable response to the tragic sequences of events surrounding her death. As participants themselves in this vigil, the filmmakers both record and demonstrate their solidarity and reflect the community's solidarity and grief felt by all in attendance, at the loss of this Iranian-Canadian photojournalist.
This film is available for view for International Human Rights Day on December 10, 2020 organized by the Embassy Cultural House. Human Rights Day is observed every year on the 10th of December. This day commemorates the date in 1948 that the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. |
